There's No Place Like America

"If America is so racist...why do they all want to come here?  Would somebody 'splain that to me?  And then once they get here, if we are so damned racist against Hispanics, if we're so discriminatory against Hispanics, if we are so terrible on human rights issues...then why do they stay?  Why do they fight so hard against being sent back home?"  - El Rushbo Rush is referencing the results of an AP poll released Friday stating Hispanics are the most discriminated group of people in this country (winning out over blacks and women).  You gotta love the media, right?! They continue to make this about race. When is someone going to get a clue? The race card is the President's only option. The only way he can coerce the American population to shirk from any type of anti-illegal-immigration reform is to make them think they are horrible, racist people.  There's no other way. Liberal Definition

I'm heading into one of the busiest weeks of my life with vacation on the horizon, so posting might fall by the wayside. I'm hoping I can stay with it. Did you know about this oil spill? Crazy. I didn't until this weekend. I've been out of it. That's what traveling out of town sans husband with my crazy children will do to me.

And if you think the oil spill is going to be political, you better believe it. As suggested by a caller on Rush's program Friday, our leadership is likely to come out saying this is evidence and reason for preventing oil exploration in the future.  The caller quoted Reagan's speech after the Challenger tragedy (I was little, but I remember that firsthand)...Reagan said:

"Sometimes painful things like this happen. It's all part of the process of exploration and discovery. It's all part of taking a chance and expanding man's horizons. The future doesn't belong to the fainthearted; it belongs to the brave."

I believe Reagan is right. But the liberals are going to turn this oil spill into a political attack on oil exploration. This was what Rush had to say about liberals:

"To them, the essence of life is unfair. Just life itself is unfair, because there are days that people hurt. There are days that people suffer. And they always assign the suffering to economic or racial reasons. People are suffering because they don't have as much as the next guy does. Or they are suffering because they're of a minority skin color...Folks, liberalism is hideous. It is the antithesis of being pro-human. It looks at life as a burden in and of itself to be managed, rather than as a blessing to be explored and lived to the fullest."

I'm not belittling suffering. I'm just saying what would life be without suffering? We must face hardships to cherish the moments of joy. Liberals think the opposite...remove the hardships (which is impossible, by the way), and live your life like a robot. No pain. No joy. Not much of a life if you ask me.

Obama's History AGAINST Reconciliation

Obama has spoke in previous years about the budget reconciliation process and his opposition of the rule. Thanks to El Rushbo for gathering the history, which I leave for you tonight.  Velly Velly interesting...

OBAMA in 2005 about changing the filibuster rule:  

"A change in the Senate rules that really, uh, I think would change the character of the Senate, uh, forever. [snip] Uhhh, and what I worry about would be th-th-that you essentially still have two chambers, the House and the Senate, but you have simply majoritarian, uhhh, absolute power on either side, and that's just not what the Founders intended."

OBAMA in 2004 about legislation passage in the Senate:  

"My understanding of the Senate is is that you need 60 votes to get something significant to happen, which means that Democrats have to ask the question: Do we have the will to move an American agenda forward, not a Democratic or Republican agenda forward?"

OBAMA 2006:  

"Those big-ticket items, fixing our health care system. You know, one of the arguments that sometimes I get with, uhh, my fellow progressives...is this notion that we should function sort of like Karl Rove, where we -- we identify our core base, we throw 'em red meat, we get a 50-plus-one, uhhh, victory.  See, Karl Rove doesn't need a broad consensus because he doesn't believe in government.  If we want to transform the country, though, that requires a -- a sizeable majority."

OBAMA 2007:  

"The bottom line is is that our health care plans are similar.  The question, once again, is: Who can get it done?  Who can build a movement for change?  This is an area where we're going to have to have a 60% majority in the Senate and the House in order to actually get a bill to my desk.  We're going to have to have a majority to get a bill to my desk that is not just a 50-plus-one majority."

OBAMA 2007:  

"You gotta break out of what I call the sort of 50-plus-one pattern of presidential politics.  Maybe you eke out a victory with 50-plus-one but you can't govern. You know, you get Air Force One and a lot of nice perks as president but you can't -- you can't deliver on health -- we're not going to pass universal health care with a -- with a 50-plus-one strategy."

But of course, he will now use the 50-plus-one rule (aka reconciliation) for his own self-serving takeover of the health care system.  He must have had quite a revelation since becoming President if now he believes the process is ethical and appropriate.

Calling For Bipartisanship is a Joke

"The big reason for pessimism is that a deal requires compromise, and the two sides' very definitions of compromise are poles apart.  Democrats think compromise means trimming around the edges of the bills the House and Senate already have passed. Republicans think compromise means total abandonment of those bills."

I'm really starting to hate the health care debate. "Hate" is a not-nice word in our house, but I'm making an exception in this case as nothing else is sufficient to explain my utter dissatisfaction with the whole thing. It's exhausting disliking something so much.  Good thing NBC is keeping me distracted. (see previous post)  

I've always disagreed with government-run health care (and I'm reminded every time I go to the DMV or the DOL how bad government-run programs can be).  But I'm really hating the "win at all costs" and "doubling down" attitude. How does any democrat sleep at night knowing they are completely disregarding public opinion? Our President and the democrat Congress are showing no signs of starting over or truly negotiating with the GOP. It just isn't going to happen...

It's gridlock. Total and utter gridlock. But you know what??...gridlock is good.  It's the only thing preventing this disaster from going through.  

But this is what's going to happen if the Dems get their way....(thanks to my friend, El Rushbo for helping me see the light):

They'll pass something...a full-fledged 10-year plan with lots of tax increases starting immediately, and program starting in 2012.  Either through under-the-table payoffs or through reconciliation (a sly 'back-door' process of sorts). They are focused on getting something - anything signed. 

And by the time ObamaCare is live in 2012, all of the "vote yes" democrat representatives will have been run out of office.  The public is too smart to let them be re-elected.

So who will support this legislation after all the dems have been thrown overboard? No one.  

In the words of El Rushbo himself:  "Nobody's going to love this bill.  Nobody's going to have any support for it.  It's going to be an unwanted, unloved bill, dependent on the expanding bankrupt government."

And didn't Obama repeatedly promise he was focusing on jobs?  If so, I'm left wondering why the heck he's back at the health care table.  I think he may have some short-term memory issues...

Do you remember in Disney's Finding Nemo, how Dory can't recall Nemo's name?

Chico, Fabio, Bingo, Rocko, Reeemo, Harpo, Elmo

No matter what Dory calls him, he's still Nemo.  It's the same with health care.  Unless you start over, it's still the same horrendous piece of legislation...you're just calling it something different...and it's still not providing private sector jobs.
